Leyton Hewitt's campaign at the Shanghai Masters was ended by Radek Stepanek this afternoon.
There was very little to separate the two players during the opening exchanges, with both managing to hold their respective service games.
However, 33-year-old Stepanek was first to break and went on to serve out for a 7-5 success in the first set.
Former world number one Hewitt struggled to respond in the second set as he managed to hold his serve just once.
As a result, Stepanek went on a run of six successive games to book his place in the next round at the expense of the Australian.
