Home favourite Elena Baltacha has reached the second round of the Olympic singles by defeating Hungary's Agnes Szavay in straight sets.
The British number four broke to-15 in the third game of the match before taking the first 6-3 with another break in the final game of the set.
Baltacha was doing her best to please the home support on Court 18 and almost made a crucial breakthrough at 3-2 in the second. Szavay's resistance held though and the set was levelled.
Baltacha was not to be denied, however, and broke two games later to take a 5-3 lead before holding to-love, finishing the match with an ace.
The 28-year-old will play Serbia's Ana Ivanovic in the second round at the All England Club.
