Andy Murray handed Viktor Troicki tie in Olympic singles opener

Andy Murray must overcome Viktor Troicki if he is to progress in the men's singles at Rio 2016, while favourite Novak Djokovic takes on Juan Martin del Potro.

Defending Olympic Games champion Andy Murray will take on Serbia's Viktor Troicki in the opening round of the men's tennis singles at Rio 2016.

The Great Britain ace, who beat Roger Federer at Wimbledon to win gold four years ago, heads into the tournament as second favourite to repeat his success and pick up a third medal.

World number one Novak Djokovic, also representing Serbia, has been drawn against Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro, while Brit Kyle Edmund is to face Jordan Thompson of Australia.

In the women's draw, another British hopeful in Johanna Konta faces Stephanie Vogt of Liechtenstein, and Heather Watson is up against China's Peng Shuai, who is currently ranked outside the world's top 250.
