World number two Li Na has pulled out of the US Open with a knee injury.
The 32-year-old has been struggling to overcome the lingering issue and will also miss the Rogers Cup and Western & Southern Open as a result.
Li took to Facebook this afternoon to say: "Since March, I have been struggling with my knee and it is just not where I need it to be in order to play at the highest level.
"My medical team has advised me that I need to take some time off to rest my knee so it [heals]. I look forward to getting back on the court this fall in Wuhan and Beijing."
The news comes just a day after Rafael Nadal pulled out of the Cincinnati Open and Rogers Cup because of a wrist injury.
