Heather Watson has defeated Katie Swan in an all-British clash to qualify for the main draw of the US Open.
Watson has dropped outside of the world's top 100 after a disappointing year, but the 26-year-old has followed reaching the final of an ITF event by earning a place at Flushing Meadows.
The Guernsey-born player broke twice in the opening set - with Swan squandering three opportunities - and Watson took her momentum into the second.
Swan saved seven break points, but Watson still struck once and it proved enough to secure a 6-2 6-4 victory in one hour and 14 minutes.
Watson will now face Russia's Ekaterina Makarova in the opening round.
