Jamie Murray, Bruno Soares through to US Open semi-finals

Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares earn a place in the US Open semi-finals with a three-set win over Chris Guccione and Andre Sa.

Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares have moved two games away from a second Grand Slam title after reaching the US Open semi-finals.

Just weeks after joining forces at the start of 2016, the pair won the Australian Open crown, and they have remained in contention at Flushing Meadows with a 7-6 2-6 6-3 win over Chris Guccione and Andre Sa.

After neither team could break serve during the opening 12 games, the first set went to a tie-break and it was Murray and Soares who eventually prevailed by a 11-9 scoreline.

To their credit, Guccione and Sa responded superbly to break twice on the way to forcing a decider but they were unable to take that momentum into the third.

Murray and Soares registered the only break to move through to the last four, where they will play top seeds Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut.
