Andy Murray's team insist that no decision has been made on whether the 37-year-old will play at Wimbledon following an announcement that he would miss the tournament.

Andy Murray's team have insisted that no decision has been made on his Wimbledon participation following apparent confirmation that he would miss the Grand Slam.

The two-time winner recently underwent an operation to treat a back injury, which forced him to retire from his second-round Queen's match against Jordan Thompson.

A report from The Telegraph claimed that Murray would be forced to miss Wimbledon, leading to the ATP Tour X account to ostensibly confirm that he would be absent from the tournament.

"After an operation on a spinal cyst, Andy Murray is sadly out of Wimbledon... Rest up and recover Andy, we'll miss seeing you there 😢❤️," the organisation said in a post, which has now been deleted.

Murray's entourage had not released any statements before the reports emerged, but they have now denied claims that the former world number one has already been ruled out of Wimbledon, which begins on July 1.

"Following his surgery on Saturday, Andy is continuing to work with his medical team to confirm when he will return to the court," the Briton's team said. "At this stage, no decisions have been made and we will update further as soon as anything has been finalised."

Murray had been expected to retire from professional tennis following the conclusion of the summer, potentially ending his career at Wimbledon or the Paris Olympics in a few weeks' time.
