Brownlee brothers to lead Team GB triathletes at Rio 2016 Olympics

Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee are named in the Team GB squad of triathletes for this summer's Olympic Games in Rio.

Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee have been named among six triathletes to represent Team GB at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro this summer.

The brothers will compete in their second Games, and will be joined in the men's race by Gordon Benson, who nabbed gold in the inaugural European Games in Baku last year.

On the women's side, Non Stanford will fight for medals alongside Vicky Holland, while Helen Jenkins has also been named in the team having already competed at Beijing 2008 and London 2012.

Alistair Brownlee won gold in London four years ago, while his brother took bronze.

Team GB's chef de mission Mark England said: "I would like to congratulate these six athletes on securing Olympic selection for Rio 2016 and welcome them all onto Team GB. At London 2012 we won our first medals in triathlon and since then we have gone from strength to strength as a nation.

"As Olympic medallists both Alistair and Jonny bring an incredible pedigree to the team and Gordon's European Games triumph in Baku last year means the men's team is very strong.

"Non, Vicky and Helen have all tasted World Championships success and I'm sure will go into the Games in great form and full of confidence."
