Georgia Taylor-Brown comes back from a flat tyre to earn triathlon silver as Bermuda's Flora Duffy triumphs.

Georgia Taylor-Brown came back from a flat tyre to earn a silver medal for Team GB in the women's triathlon on day five of the Olympics.

On a torrid day in Tokyo which made the course especially treacherous, Taylor-Brown was in a leading position effectively from the off - but disaster struck towards the end of the final lap on the bike when her back tyre went out.

The 27-year-old lost almost 30 seconds on the leading pack as a result, but battled her way back from fifth to second with a determined run - making her decisive move on the USA's Katie Zaferes at the start of the final lap.

After Taylor-Brown's bike mishap, there was only ever going to be one winner as Flora Duffy of Bermuda powered through the 10km run and left the chasers in her wake, crossing the finish line with an advantage of 1 minute 14 seconds.

With victory, Duffy, 33, claims Bermuda's first ever gold medal - and only the second medal in total - at an Olympic Games.

Meanwhile, Taylor-Brown's teammates Jess Learmonth and Vicky Holland finished ninth and 13th respectively.
