Winter sport 'big air' has been recommended to the International Olympic Committee with the aim of making its debut at the PyeongChang Games in 2018.
The sport, which involves snowboarders and skiers performing tricks off a large jump, could be ratified by April 2016.
Snowboarder Lesley McKenna believes that the possible new addition would boost Great Britain's chances of claiming more Winter Olympic medals.
"If big air becomes an Olympic sport it would be a very exciting prospect," McKenna told BBC Sport. "We have world-class big air athletes and there is strength and depth with lots of youngsters coming through too."
Jenny Jones won GB's first medal at the Winter Olympics after a 90-year wait by claiming bronze in the snowboard slopestyle event in Sochi last year.
