Elise Christie: 'Coach said to enjoy myself'

Elise Christie reveals that her coach Nicky Gooch helped her to enjoy herself again on the ice in the 1,000m speed skating heats.

Great Britain speed skater Elise Christie has revealed that her coach Nicky Gooch told her to relax and enjoy herself in the 1,000m short track heat that saw her move into the quarter-finals.

Christie said that she was feeling upset about her earlier two disqualifications in other events, but really enjoyed getting back on to the ice and is now confident once more.

"I didn't train very well and I was quite emotional but when I stepped on the ice I was ready to go and felt very confident," she told Team GB's official website.

"My coach wanted me just to enjoy it and get the love back for skating. He told me to use my instincts so I decided to sit at the back and then go clear at the end."

Christie suffered abuse on Twitter following her disqualifications, which led to her deleting her account.
