Katie Summerhayes: 'I will come back stronger'

Katie Summerhayes vows to "come back stronger" at the next Winter Olympics after finishing seventh in today's ski slopestyle final.

Great Britain skier Katie Summerhayes has vowed to "come back stronger" at the next Winter Olympics after finishing seventh in today's ski slopestyle final in Sochi.

The Sheffield-born teenager fell during her first attempt, before securing a score of 70.60 on her second go.

"We set out to inspire and make people want to go the sport, make people fall in love with it and hopefully we, as a team, have done that," the 18-year-old told BBC Sport.

"I was just thinking this is the most important day of my life, and it's alright I'm lucky to be skiing everyday as my job. My friends are at college.

"That's my goal (to go to another Olympic Games). I wanted to win a medal but I'll take this experience and come back stronger."

Canadians Dara Howell and Kim Lamarre earned gold and bronze respectively in the final at the Rosa Khutor Extreme Park, with United States skier Devin Logan securing silver.
