Elise Christie stripped of Team GB's second medal at Sochi 2014

Despite completing the race in second spot, Team GB's Elise Christie is stripped of her silver medal in the speed skating 500m short track final after causing a collision.

Elise Christie has been stripped of becoming the second Team GB athlete at Sochi 2014 to win a medal.

In a dramatic short track 500m speed skating final, Christie ended the race with a silver medal, but was shortly stripped of her second-place finish due to causing a wipeout on the first lap.

After trying to make an early dart down the inside track, Christie nudged into Italy's Arianna Fontana, wiping out South Korea's Park Sueng-Hi in the process.

The collision allowed China's Li Janrou to cruise ahead to win Olympic gold in a time of 45.263s and although the other three skaters got to their feet and completed the circuit, Christie was the one penalised for causing the drama.

Fontana was moved up to win the silver medal, while Park took bronze.

Slopestyle snowboarder Jenny Jones remains the only Great Britain competitor to so far win a medal, a bronze she won on the second day of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.
