Great Britain finish last in team figure skating

Great Britain finish 10th in the team figure skating event and do not qualify.

Great Britain are out of the team figure skating event after finishing in 10th place.

Penny Coomes and Nick Butland produced a score of 52.93 earlier this afternoon to give Team GB an outside chance of qualifying for the next round, and despite a season-best score of 50.09 points from Jenna McCorkell, Great Britain have failed to finish in the top five.

Although Great Britain have not ventured through to the next round of the team event, Jenna McCorkell was pleased with her personal performance.

"It was my season's best by 11 points and that's a big step up from the European Championships. I'm just proud to finally put a performance in at the Olympic Games," she told reporters after Great Britain's elimination.

"I lost a few points on my levels, so there is room to improve for the individual event. I did my absolute best and I was really relieved after what happened in Vancouver.

I wasn't really ready approaching Vancouver and I came in here knowing my practices are going very well and I felt more confident. I knew I could do it and I'm over the moon."

The top five teams will now compete in the free skates.
