Team GB women edged out by Canada in curling

Great Britain suffer their second defeat from four games so far at the Winter Olympics with a 9-6 loss to Canada.

Team GB have lost their second preliminary-round game of the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 after a close battle with Canada on Wednesday.

It was a nervy start to the encounter for GB, with Anna Sloan making an early mistake as Eve Muirhead's players could not take advantage of winning the hammer.

The Canadian skipper Jennifer Jones managed an 85% accuracy for the match, the highest of all the players, and she pulled off a number of key shots at important times to keep her side ahead.

It was 3-3 after the fourth, but a strong showing in the fifth end from Canada put them 6-3 ahead, from which point Britain were playing catch up.

Muirhead attempted a risky winning shot with the hammer on the final end, but did not quite catch it right to hand the final point to Canada in a 9-6 win.
