Team GB women pick up second curling victory against China

An excellent final stone of the match from Eve Muirhead gives Team GB their second win of Sochi 2014 in the curling round robin stage.

Great Britain's women's curling team have picked up their second win of the 2014 Winter Olympics with a slim 8-7 victory against China.

The Chinese started well and capitalised on some poor play from Team GB with inaccurate throws, taking a 2-0 advantage in the first end. However, Eve Muirhead rallied her side in the second and levelled the scores with an inch-perfect throw with her final stone of the end.

After falling another point back, Muirhead and her team - Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Claire Hamilton - took the lead for the first time at the conclusion of the fourth end.

When curling with the hammer, Team GB registered two points every time until the eighth end when they could only manage to score one point, and when the Chinese team scored two in the ninth, things were level going into the final end.

However, Muirhead held her nerve to edge the win with the game's final stone and secure her team's second victory in Sochi.

Great Britain now have two wins and two losses from their four matches so far, meaning that they sit joint fifth in the round robin table, level with both China and the Russians. Canada lead the table with a 100% record after their four matches.
