Suspected hijacker arrested

Turkish security forces have detained a suspected hijacker after he made a bomb threat on a plane headed to Sochi, where the Winter Olympics are taking place.

A fighter jet escorted the plane to safety after the pilot signalled that there was a hijack attempt.

Authorities arrested the suspected hijacker on the plane while the other passengers were evacuated, according to NTV Television.

Istanbul governor, Huseyin Avni Mutlu, said that the man did not have a bomb on him and no weapons were used in the incident.
