WWE Network surpasses one million subscribers

WWE owner Vince McMahon announces that the company's video network exceeds one million subscribers worldwide.

Vince McMahon has announced that the WWE Network has reached over one million subscribers worldwide.

The network, which was officially launched in the UK earlier this month, surpassed the milestone 11 months after it was first rolled out in North America.

The network, which has been described as a professional wrestling version of popular service Netflix, is expected to grow in subscribers with WrestleMania 31 in March, according to owner McMahon.

MTV.com quotes McMahon as saying: "We're thrilled that we've surpassed the one million subscriber milestone less than a year after launching WWE Network and in advance of WrestleMania, our biggest event of the year on March 29.

"We remain focused on delivering an outstanding value proposition for ours fans by adding new content and new features in the coming year."

WWE broadcast its Royal Rumble pay-per-view on the network on Sunday.
