Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left furious with boss Mikel Arteta after his North London derby axe, according to a report.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was reportedly left fuming after being axed from Arsenal's starting lineup for Sunday's North London derby with Tottenham Hotspur.

The Gabon international was overlooked for selection because of what manager Arteta described as a "disciplinary issue", believed to be down to the striker's late arrival at the Emirates Stadium.

Aubameyang remained on the bench for the full 90 minutes, yet Arsenal did not miss their leading goalscorer as they recovered to beat their bitter rivals 2-1.

Arteta attempted to play down the issue after the match but, according to The Mirror, Aubameyang was furious with the Spaniard, causing some tension behind the scenes.

Former Borussia Dortmund star Aubameyang has scored 14 goals in all competitions for Arsenal this season, nine of those coming in the Premier League.

Arteta must now decide whether to recall his skipper for Thursday's Europa League last-16 second leg with Olympiacos.
