Chelsea reportedly emerge as serious contenders alongside Liverpool to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir this summer.

Chelsea have reportedly joined Liverpool in the race to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir this summer.

Fekir is thought to have been told by Lyon that he is free to leave the club when the transfer window opens should a suitable offer arrive, with the Ligue 1 outfit holding out for at least £60m.

Speculation emerged yesterday claiming that Liverpool had agreed a big-money deal for the 24-year-old, although Jurgen Klopp has since laughed those rumours off.

L'Equipe now reports that Chelsea have emerged as serious contenders for Fekir's signature, although Liverpool are understood to remain favourites to sign the France international if they hold on to their top-four spot in the Premier League this season.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the attacker, but their lack of Champions League football next season and uncertainty over their new manager could scupper any hopes of luring Fekir to the Emirates Stadium.

Fekir has scored 22 goals and created eight more across all competitions for Lyon this season, helping his side to the verge of Champions League qualification.
