Mikel Arteta's decision to banish Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from first-team affairs at Arsenal reportedly increases the likelihood of Alexandre Lacazette staying.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's rift with manager Mikel Arteta at Arsenal has reportedly increased the possibility of Alexandre Lacazette staying at the club.

The futures of both of Arsenal's main strikers have come under scrutiny this season, with Lacazette closing in on the final six months of his contract, at which point he will be free to discuss terms with overseas clubs.

Aubameyang looks increasingly likely to leave the Emirates Stadium either in January or next summer too, having been banished from first-team training by Arteta due to a disciplinary breach.

The Gabon international has been left out of Arsenal's last three squads and stripped of the captaincy during a public fallout, intensifying speculation that the Gunners will look to offload him next month.

Calciomercato claims that Arsenal were also considering cashing in on Lacazette for a cut-price fee in January before the Aubameyang saga, but that they will now likely keep him until at least the end of his contract in June.

AC Milan are among the clubs to have been linked with a move for Lacazette, who was given the armband in place of Aubameyang for the win over West Ham United in midweek.

Arsenal are still thought to be on the lookout for attacking reinforcements, though, with Dusan Vlahovic and Dominic Calvert-Lewin among the names on their radar.
