Blackburn Rovers ease past Ipswich Town

Blackburn Rovers overcome a stubborn Ipswich Town side 2-0 after a hard-fought game at Ewood Park.

Blackburn Rovers have beaten Ipswich Town 2-0 in the Championship this afternoon.

Despite chances for both sides in an open first half, it was Rovers who took all three points with two goals late on.

After a couple of missed opportunities for Daryl Murphy early on, Rovers improved and created several chances of their own through Rudy Gestede and Tom Cairney.

Jonathan Williams was also lively for Ipswich as neither side were able to really test the other's goalkeeper in the first half.

After the break Ipswich could have taken the lead, however Paul Robinson saved twice from Frank Nouble and Williams before seeing his side take the lead thanks to a neat finish from Jordan Rhodes.

Rhodes and Gestede continued to cause Ipswich problems before Rovers finally doubled their lead 10 minutes from time as the latter rose highest from a corner and headed home.
