Club legend John Terry joins a proposal headed by Stephen Pagliuca in the race to purchase Chelsea over the coming weeks.

Chelsea bidder Stephen Pagliuca has revealed that John Terry is supporting his effort to become the new owner of Chelsea.

Pagliuca is one of four candidates left in the race to buy the Premier League club after it was put up for sale by Roman Abramovich.

Raine Group are said to have told the final quartet that their final amended proposals must be submitted during the latter half of this week.

The 67-year-old, the co-owner of the Boston Celtics, has now released a statement to reveal that club legend Terry, part of the 'True Blues Consortium', is backing his bid to take over from the Russian billionaire.

In a statement, Pagliuca said: "The group welcomes the endorsement and support of the True Blues Consortium, an organization dedicated to Chelsea FC and focused on representing fan interests for the club."

The statement focused on revealing that Larry Tanenbaum, the NBA chairman and owner of Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, had agreed to become the 'co-managing partner' of the bid.
