Chelsea are reportedly contemplating whether to sack head coach Mauricio Pochettino after Sunday's 4-2 defeat at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Chelsea are reportedly considering whether to part ways with head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine was brought to Stamford Bridge in the summer, along with a wide array of new signings, and tasked with the job of forming an exciting new team.

However, while Pochettino has guided Chelsea to an EFL Cup final, where they will face Liverpool later this month, the Blues sit in 11th position in the Premier League standings.

A 4-1 defeat at Liverpool on Wednesday was followed by a 4-2 reverse at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, leaving Chelsea seven points adrift of sixth-placed Manchester United.

Before that double-header, Chelsea had posted five wins in seven games in all competitions, as well as posting four successive league wins at their West London home.

Nevertheless, on the back of losing to Wolves, TEAMtalk claims that Chelsea's owners are deliberating over whether they should sack Pochettino.

As it stands, it is unclear whether the 51-year-old is in immediate danger of being removed from the dugout, or whether a decision could come if Chelsea do not improve.

Pochettino has recorded 14 wins, six draws and 11 defeats from his 31 games in all competitions, with his win percentage of 45% better than the 39% achieved by Graham Potter over the same amount of games.

That said, Pochettino's record has been achieved after considerably more spending and with Chelsea having transformed their squad in the summer.

After losing to Wolves, Pochettino admitted that being sacked was a possibility, acknowledging that Chelsea were not performing to the levels expected of them.

On the flip side, he has consistently referred to Chelsea being at the start of a project, insisting that it will take time for his players, who are part of one of the youngest squads in the Premier League, to fulfil their potential.

Chelsea are next in action when they travel to Aston Villa for their FA Cup fourth-round replay, with the initial tie coming before the recent defeats ending goalless.

A trip to Crystal Palace follows in the Premier League on February 12, before Chelsea make the daunting trip to Manchester City on February 17.
