Jamie Carragher: 'Ryan Giggs would not be in running for Everton job'

Jamie Carragher does not think that Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs will be a candidate for the Everton job.

Jamie Carragher has claimed that Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs is unlikely to be considered for the Everton vacancy.

The 43-year-old has had spells as assistant coach at Old Trafford, working alongside David Moyes and then Louis van Gaal, but Jose Mourinho opted against keeping Giggs when he took over the team last year.

The former Wales international is yet to step into management, but he has confirmed interest in both the Everton and Leicester City managerial jobs.

Carragher, who has been working as a Sky Sports pundit since retiring from football in 2013, does not think that his former United rival will be named in the list of candidates for the Toffees.

"I don't think Ryan Giggs would be in the running for the Everton job," the ex-defender told Sky Sports News. "No disrespect; he wants to get into management, and credit to him, he has had an apprenticeship at Manchester United under some great managers, but I don't think he would be in the running for Everton."

Koeman was sacked from his position on Monday afternoon after overseeing just two wins in nine Premier League games.
