Top 10 Liverpool strikers of the Premier League era - #10

Sports Mole's countdown of the 10 best Liverpool strikers from the Premier League era begins with number 10 - Emile Heskey.

Narrowly beating Daniel Sturridge into the top 10 is Emile Heskey - a man who brought much more to the centre-forward role than just goals.

While Sturridge may have a better scoring record, injuries and form have meant that he has rarely been a regular starter for the club, whereas Heskey was a fixture of the team during his four full seasons at Anfield, missing only 14 Premier League games during that time.

The former England international only made it into double figures for league goals once in his Liverpool career - scoring 14 times in the treble-winning 2000-01 campaign - but it was his link-up play with Michael Owen which proved to be his most valuable asset.

Working in tandem as a little and large partnership, the pair helped Liverpool to second place in 2001-02 - their best finish in 11 seasons at the time.

Heskey moved on to Birmingham City in 2004 having scored 39 league goals in 150 appearances for the Reds.
