Team News: Christian Benteke leads Liverpool attack

Christian Benteke comes into the Liverpool starting lineup at the expense of Daniel Sturridge for today's trip to Newcastle United.

Christian Benteke has replaced Daniel Sturridge in attack for Liverpool's trip to Newcastle United.

England international Sturridge, who only recently returned to fitness following an injury layoff, has dropped down to the bench following his two-goal contribution during the 6-1 League Cup win over Southampton on Wednesday.

Divock Origi has also been included among the substitutes, while Roberto Firmino and Jordan Ibe have been restored in advanced positions.

As for Philippe Coutinho, the game has come too soon for the Brazilian as he continues his recovery from a hamstring complaint.

Meanwhile, hosting Newcastle have made one alteration, which has seen Siem de Jong come in for Ayoze Perez.

Newcastle United: Elliot; Janmaat, Coloccini, Mbemba, Dummett; Sissoko, Anita, Colback, Wijnaldum, De Jong; Cisse
Subs: Darlow, Sterry, Mbabu, Gouffran, Thauvin, Perez, Mitrovic

Liverpool: Mignolet; Clyne, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Lucas, Allen, Milner; Ibe, Firmino, Benteke
Subs: Bogdan, Toure, Henderson, Sturridge, Lallana, Origi, Randall
