Manchester United defender Harry Maguire handed suspended 21-month prison sentence

A Greece court hands Harry Maguire a suspended 21-month prison sentence after finding the 27-year-old guilty of all charges in relation to an incident in Mykonos.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been handed a 21-month suspended prison sentence by a Greece court.

Last Thursday night, Maguire, his brother Joe and Christopher Sharman were arrested after an incident after a night out in Mykonos.

While it was alleged that Maguire's sister had been injected by a suspected 'rape drug', charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and repeated attempts of bribery were laid against the trio.

Despite pleading not guilty to all offences, it was announced on Tuesday evening that Maguire had been convicted of each of the charges, which includes assaulting a police officer and an effort to limit any punishment for the disturbance.

However, as a result of it being his first misdemeanour, the England international will avoid spending time in prison, instead being given a suspended sentence which will run until May 2022.

Maguire has been named in England's squad to face Iceland and Denmark early next month.
