Report: Louis van Gaal met with Manchester United officials 10 days ago

A report in Holland claims that Louis van Gaal and Manchester United held talks about the Old Trafford managerial position 10 days ago.

Louis van Gaal reportedly held a meeting with officials from Manchester United 10 days ago.

The current Netherlands head coach, who will step down from his current role following the conclusion of this summer's World Cup, has been installed as the early favourite to replace David Moyes at Old Trafford following the confirmation of the Scot's sacking earlier today.

Sixty-two-year-old Van Gaal had been heavily linked with Tottenham Hotspur, but he is interested in succeeding Moyes and has even held preliminary discussions regarding the job, according to De Telegraaf.

Prior to the Dutch national team, Van Gaal managed Ajax, Barcelona, AZ Alkmaar and Bayern Munich.
