Frank O'Farrell: 'David Moyes deserves time at Manchester United'

Frank O'Farrell believes that Manchester United should give David Moyes more time at Old Trafford following rumours that he is on the verge of getting sacked.

Former Manchester United boss Frank O'Farrell believes that David Moyes should be "given time" to turn the club's fortunes around.

Widespread reports have emerged claiming that the Scotsman is on the verge of getting sacked following a dismal first season in charge.

However, O'Farrell, who was sacked by United in December 1972 after 18 months, believes that Moyes will have been treated unfairly should he be shown the Old Trafford exit door.

"It's rehashing an old story isn't it really? It's happened before and it will happen again," O'Farrell told the Irish Independent. "It happens quite often in football. I'm sorry to see he could lose his job. I wouldn't wish that on anybody.

"They're looking for results quicker than they can be provided. It's a tough old game. It's hard to win a league and there can only be one winner. The rest are the also-rans, but certainly he should be given more time."

Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is reported to be United's main target, while Ryan Giggs has been tipped to take charge of the first team for the rest of the season.
