Manchester United could reportedly step up their pursuit of PSV Eindhoven's Cody Gakpo if they are unable to sign Antony this summer.

Manchester United are reportedly prepared to sign Cody Gakpo if they fail in their pursuit of Antony.

The Red Devils have signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez this summer, but have failed to strengthen in the final third.

Erik ten Hag's quest to sign Antony has proven to be difficult after negotiations over a transfer fee with Ajax stalled, although United are set to make another bid for the Brazilian.

Cody Gakpo has also been identified as another attacking target, however, PSV Eindhoven are unwilling to sell the 23-year-old until they complete their Champions League playoff tie with Rangers.

According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, United are still considering a move for Gakpo before the transfer window closes.

The report states that the Red Devils want to sign Antony, but if they are unable to land the Ajax forward then they could step up their pursuit of Gakpo, who is believed to be a cheaper option.

PSV drew 2-2 in the first leg against Rangers - with Gakpo providing an assist - and the return leg is set to take place in the Netherlands next week.
