Roma are frontrunners in the race to sign Juventus' out-of-contract forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer this summer, according to a report.

Roma have become frontrunners in the race to sign Juventus' out-of-contract forward Paulo Dybala on a free transfer this summer, according to a report.

It was recently confirmed that the Argentine would leave Juventus upon the expiration of his contract in June, having failed to agree to a contract extension with Massimiliano Allegri's side.

As a result, numerous top clubs around Europe have been linked with an interest in signing the 28-year-old this summer, including the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.

However, although Inter had previously been confident of keeping the forward in Serie A, fellow Italian outfit Roma look to have jumped to the front of the queue according to a report from TyC Sports.

The report suggests that Roma legend, and former club director, Francesco Totti has been heavily involved in the negotiations by offering his old number 10 shirt should Dybala make the move to Jose Mourinho's side.

The shirt number has been retired at the club since Totti retired from playing football in 2017, as a reflection of the legendary status that he holds with I Giallorossi.

Dybala, who scored 115 goals in 293 appearances across all competitions for Juventus, is currently with the Argentina national team ahead of the upcoming international fixtures, and he has previously stated that he would decide his future following those games.
