Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Malaga

As Real Madrid prepare to take on Malaga at La Rosaleda, Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record in this fixture down the years.

Real Madrid head to Malaga this weekend still on a high following their dramatic aggregate win against Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

Los Blancos are essentially left fighting for silverware on just one front in the remaining month of the campaign, as they are 15 points behind Barcelona at the top of La Liga and out of the Copa del Rey.

Boss Zinedine Zidane may therefore opt to rotate his squad for Sunday's league clash at La Rosaleda, although the Frenchman would be wise to think twice before leaving out star man Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portugal international boasts a goal-a-game average against Malaga in La Liga, which Sports Mole takes a closer look at below.

Ronaldo vs. Malaga

Seventeen league matches, 17 league goals - Ronaldo simply loves playing against the Boquerones. Those goals have been well spread out, too, having netted in 11 of those fixtures.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner racked up 10 in his first five encounters, though that has since become seven in 12 - still a decent return, but less impressive than before.

Ronaldo netted in this corresponding fixture last season inside just two minutes, settling Los Blancos' nerves as they claimed a 2-0 win to win the Spanish top flight.

Another goal followed in this season's reverse match, this time tucking away from the rebound after his penalty was saved to snatch a 3-2 victory for his side.

In fact, just once has the Portuguese been on the losing side in 19 league and cup ties with Malaga - a 3-2 loss at La Rosaleda in 2012-13.
