Scottish League One roundup: Ayr United go top after win over Stirling Albion

Sports Mole rounds up all of the action from Saturday's games in Scottish League One, where Ayr United beat Stirling Albion to go top.

Ayr United secured their second win of the season beating Stirling Albion 3-1 to preserve a 100% record, while Forfar Athletic beat Dunfermline Athletic 2-0 at Station Park.

Alan Forrest struck twice for Ayr before Gordon Smith pegged one back for Stirling with a 66th-minute penalty. Brian Gilmour secured the win for Ayr three minutes later, however, with a close-range effort.

Elsewhere, Forfar went second after second-half strikes from Darren Dods and Dale Hilson secured a 2-0 win against Dunfermline.

Morton notched their first win of the season as they hammered Stranraer 4-0. Declan McManus scored two, the first of which was from the penalty spot, while goals from Jamie McCluskey and Conor Pepper followed.

Airdrieonians find themselves bottom after losing their second straight game, succumbing 2-0 to Peterhead who left it late with goals from Andrew Rodgers and David Cox.

An Alan Trouten goal on the stroke of half time was enough to see Brechin City past Stenhousemuir.

Results in full: Airdrieonians 0-2 Peterhead, Brechin City 1-0 Stenhousemuir, Forfar Athletic 2-0 Dunfermline Athletic, Morton 4-0 Stranraer, Stirling Albion 1-3 Ayr United
