Dante insists that Bayern Munich's home draw with his former club Borussia Monchengladbach was a point gained rather than two dropped.

Bayern Munich defender Dante has insisted that he was pleased with side's display last night despite being held by Borussia Monchengladbach.

The league leaders were forced to respond to going behind to a Thorben Marx penalty in the early stages at the Allianz Arena.

Xherdan Shaqiri fired in an equaliser on the hour to restore parity and extend Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga to 12 points.

Dante spent three seasons in Gladbach and admitted that the reunion was an emotional one.

He told reporters: "It was very emotional to see my ex-colleagues again, but during the game they're just like any other opposition and I was solely focused on helping my team.

"We actually played really well. It's a shame we didn't get the second goal, but we can leave with our heads held high because we gave it everything to try and get all three points.

"We can say that we've made a step in the right direction, but the first 17 games are out of the way and there's still the second half of the season to come."

Bayern have won all but four of their 17 league matches to collect 42 points in a brilliant first half of the campaign for Jupp Heynckes's side.
