Borussia Monchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen share six goals between each other in the Bundesliga.

Borussia Monchengladbach have played out an entertaining 3-3 draw with Bayer Leverkusen at home in the Bundesliga.

The visitors had the better chances in the opening minutes, with Gonzalo Castro, Andre Schurrle and Lars Bender all trying their luck inside the first 10 minutes.

Bayer continued to dominate proceedings as the first half progressed, but conceded five minutes before the interval.

Martin Stranzl broke the deadlock when he headed home Havard Nordtveit's delivery from close range to ensure that Monchengladbach head into the break with a one-goal advantage.

Bayer equalised just seven minutes after the restart when set up by Stefan Kiessling, Sidney Sam fired home from outside the box.

Luuk de Jong put Monchengladbach back ahead in the 58th minute with a header from close range following Juan Arango's cross into the box.

Two minutes later Bayer were back on level terms, Kiessling latching on to Sebastian Boenisch's ball to slot home from just yards out.

Bayer thought that they had the last laugh in the match, as Schurrle shot in from the centre of the box after being set up by Castro's through-ball on 64 minutes.

However, Monchengladbach ascertained that they share the spoils four minutes from time when Patrick Herrmann headed home Roel Brouwers's free kick from close range.
