Bigger Bournemouth role for Redknapp?

Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell admits that he would like Harry Redknapp to take on a more active role at the club.

Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp could be offered a more hands-on role with Bournemouth.

Veteran boss Redknapp has been helping out the League One side in an unpaid advisory role in recent weeks.

However, the Cherries have struggled for positive results so far this season, with the club currently sitting 17th in the table.

With that in mind, chairman Eddie Mitchell has admitted that he is planning talks with manager Paul Groves regarding the possibility of utilising Redknapp's experience on a more regular basis.

"I have said in the past we have got on our doorstep one of the best managers in the country. I have spoken to Paul about bringing Harry closer and need to discuss it with Harry," Mitchell told the Bournemouth Echo.

"It would be one of many steps we would need to take to change and improve. We have got to re-examine everything. We are all trying to gain knowledge from Harry and, hopefully, we will.

"It would be great to be able to have that knowledge around the club and I would like to be able to bring it closer and that is what I am going to try to do."

Redknapp was linked with the managerial role at Ipswich Town over the weekend.
