Brighton beat Hull 1-0 courtesy of an 83rd-minute free kick by Vicente.

A Vicente strike seven minutes from time was enough to hand Brighton & Hove Albion a 1-0 win over Hull City this afternoon.

David Lopez was the first to trouble the opposition keeper, firing in a well-struck shot that David Stockdale had to beat away.

Stockdale was called into action again soon afterwards, tipping Andrea Orlandi's free kick over the top of his crossbar.

Robert Koren had a glorious chance to open the scoring for the visitors just after the hour mark, but the midfielder stabbed his effort over the bar from six yards out.

Orlandi came close just five minutes later, but he couldn't keep his shot down having been found by Wayne Bridge.

Thomas Kuszczak then pulled off a fine save to keep out a long-range Robbie Brady effort, before rescuing his team again with a save from Ahmed El Mohamady.

The deadlock was finally broken in the 83rd minute when Vicente fired in a free kick from 20 yards out after Orlandi had been felled by David Meyler.
