Injured Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope to see specialist on Monday

Nick Pope is to see a specialist on Monday to ascertain the seriousness of the shoulder injury sustained in Burnley's 1-1 draw with Aberdeen.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has revealed that Nick Pope will see a specialist on Monday after being left worried that his goalkeeper has suffered a serious injury.

The England international, who was part of the Three Lions' World Cup squad, suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder inside the opening 14 minutes of the Clarets' 1-1 draw with Aberdeen on Thursday night.

Speaking immediately after the Europa League qualifier at Pittodrie, Dyche confessed that he fears potentially being without the 26-year-old for the long term.

Pope will now undergo further scans tomorrow to ascertain the damage suffered, with a six-month layoff expected.

"He sees a specialist tomorrow. It's a definite dislocation but it is the grading of it and how the specialist views it," he told Sky Sports News. "I've spoke to him obviously and he is fine with the medics and that sort of stuff. We'll know more tomorrow.

"I can only imagine [he will be out for months] with that sort of injury, it won't be a matter of days."

Adam Legzdins played the full 90 minutes as Burnley played out a goalless draw in their friendly with Montpellier HSC on Sunday afternoon.
