Burnley announce manager Eddie Howe's departure to Bournemouth

Burnley confirm that manager Eddie Howe has left the club to return to Bournemouth for "personal and family reasons".

Burnley have confirmed that manager Eddie Howe has been granted permission to rejoin Bournemouth.

It emerged earlier today that the 38-year-old had agreed to move back to the League One outfit following the sacking of Paul Groves from Dean Court.

A statement on the Championship club's official website said: "Burnley Football Club can confirm that a compensation package has today been agreed with AFC Bournemouth for the services of manager Eddie Howe. Howe has today left Burnley Football Club for personal and family reasons."

Howe left the Cherries for Turf Moor last year following three years in charge at the coastal club.

Former Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle has now emerged as one of the favourites to return to Burnley.
