Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their Premier League showdown with Southampton on Saturday.

Chelsea will be aiming to maintain their unbeaten start under Thomas Tuchel when they travel to Southampton for Saturday's Premier League clash.

The Blues rose back into the top four with a routine 2-0 victory over Newcastle United on Monday night, with Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner both netting for the in-form capital outfit.

Tuchel's men have now won five in a row across all competitions and have shipped just one goal since the former Paris Saint-Germain boss took over, but they must also take next week's Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid into consideration this weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their trip to Southampton.

Tammy Abraham

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 20 (vs. Southampton)

Tammy Abraham lasted just 20 minutes of the Newcastle win before suffering an ankle injury after a challenge from Jamaal Lascelles, which Tuchel blasted as "reckless". However, the Chelsea boss has affirmed that the striker is feeling "very good" and has a chance of featuring this weekend.

Thiago Silva

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Thiago Silva was forced to miss Monday's win due to an ongoing muscular problem which also kept him out of the FA Cup victory over Barnsley. Tuchel had previously affirmed that the club were "trying hard" to get Silva back in the fold for Saturday's game, but he will not be ready for the weekend.

Kai Havertz

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: February 20 (vs. Southampton)

Kai Havertz was thought to have a good chance of overcoming a knock in time to face Newcastle, but he was nowhere to be seen on the night. However, the playmaker now has four days to prove his fitness ahead of the trip to the South Coast, so he could be involved in some capacity this weekend.

Christian Pulisic

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: February 20 (vs. Southampton)

Tuchel revealed that Christian Pulisic has been nursing a minor calf problem recently, and while it is not thought to be anything serious, there is a "big question mark" over his involvement this weekend.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match.
