Preview: Hertha Berlin vs. Arminia Bielefeld - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Saturday's Bundesliga clash between Hertha Berlin and Arminia Bielefeld, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Struggling Arminia Bielefeld head to the Olympiastadion Berlin to take on Hertha Berlin for what could be a Bundesliga relegation six-pointer.

The hosts have dropped to 14th in the table after a poor run of form, but remain five points and three places above the visitors, who are above only Greuther Furth.

Match preview

After a brief spell of three wins in a row back in October, Hertha Berlin have been struggling to get over the line in games and are now without a victory in their last five.

Three of those have been draws, which has kept them away from the relegation playoff spot, but Pal Dardai will be starting to worry about his team's inability to pick up three points.

They came agonisingly close to doing so in their game at home to Augsburg, conceding an equaliser in the 90th minute, but had to produce a strong comeback for their solitary point last weekend.

Stuttgart opened up a two-goal lead inside the first 20 minutes, but a goal in each half earned former-Manchester City forward Stevan Jovetic his first Bundesliga brace and Die Arminen a draw.

Hertha's main problem this year has been at the back where they have conceded 29 goals in 14 games - the second-worst in the division.

Whilst they only have one point to show for them, Arminia Bielefeld's two most recent games were actually fairly positive.

First they kept the mighty Bayern Munich to a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena - and held out at 0-0 until the 71st minute - and then produced a decent performance in a 1-1 draw with FC Koln last weekend.

That means they have put together a positive run of one win and two draws in their last four games, with the other draw coming against a resurgent Wolfsburg side.

However, it also means that they remain without a home win in eight attempts and survival in the top tier is often built on the foundations of a strong record on home soil.

That is not an issue for this week, however, where Bielefeld travel to face a side who they took four points from in their two encounters last campaign.

Team News

Kevin-Prince Boateng is not expected to start for Hertha, having not started a game since October 2, but may come on from the bench.

Tayfun Korkut is unlikely to alter his side too much, though returning midfielders Suat Serdar and Lucas Tousart are in contention to start.

Bielefeld coach Kramer might plump for an even more attacking lineup this weekend than last and French forward Bryan Lasme could get a start instead of Fabian Kunze.

Lennart Czyborra is the only member of the squad confirmed as unavailable, the left-back suffering from an abdominal issue.

Hertha Berlin possible starting lineup:
Schwolow; Pekarik, Boyata, Torunarigha, Plattenhardt; Richter, Ascacibar, Serdar, Maolida; Belfodil, Jovetic

Arminia Bielefeld possible starting lineup:
Ortega; Brunner, Pieper, Nilsson, Laursen; Prietl, Kunze; Wimmer, Schopf, Okugawa; Klos

We say: Hertha Berlin 1-0 Arminia Bielefeld

Whilst Hertha have been struggling of late, it is impossible to ignore that their opponents have won just once all season. The visitors might be coming up against one of the Bundesliga's weakest defences, but they are the lowest-scoring side in the league with just 10 goals scored in 14 games and we expect that to continue on Saturday.
