Harvey Barnes is reportedly keen on a move to Champions League-bound Newcastle United this summer, regardless of whether Leicester City stay in the Premier League.

Harvey Barnes is reportedly interested in joining Newcastle United this summer regardless of whether Leicester City survive in the Premier League.

The 25-year-old has produced impressive numbers this season despite the Foxes being embroiled in a relegation battle, having scored 12 goals and provided one assist in 33 league appearances.

Dean Smith's side have a better goalscoring record than any other team in the bottom nine of the division, suggesting that the likes of Barnes and James Maddison have a place in the top flight even if Leicester drop into the Championship.

According to Football Insider, Barnes is keen on a move to Newcastle this summer if the Magpies make a genuine attempt to secure his services.

The report claims that Barnes joins Maddison and Chelsea's Mason Mount on a shortlist of potential incomings for Eddie Howe's men in terms of attackers.

It is believed that Barnes will leave the King Power Stadium at the conclusion of this campaign regardless of whether the Foxes survive in the Premier League, with the one-time England international said to be seeking Champions League football.

Barnes and Maddison should return to the Leicester XI when they welcome West Ham United to the East Midlands in their final match - Smith's men need three points to give themselves any chance of escaping the drop.
