Newcastle United reportedly join the likes of AC Milan and RB Leipzig in the race for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara, whose contract expires in the summer.

Newcastle United have reportedly joined the battle for Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

With the Saudi Public Investment now in charge of the club, the Magpies are said to be willing to make waves in the January transfer window, as the new owners set their sights on bolstering the squad and escaping a relegation battle.

According to The Boot Room, they have now identified the young Frenchman as a prime target and have joined the likes of AC Milan and RB Leipzig in the pursuit of his signature.

Kamara sees his current Marseille contract expire in the summer and is yet to agree a new deal, with the Magpies said to be contemplating between an immediate swoop or a plan for him to arrive at the end of the season.

They have been linked with the Frenchman before, with Steve Bruce said to have been keen to bring him to the club last summer, and they faced rumoured competition from the likes of Liverpool before the French outfit fended off all interest.

Despite being just 21 years old, Kamara has already made 133 first-team appearances for Les Olympiens, netting four goals and providing five assists.
