Ian Wright: 'Anthony Martial fallen off a cliff under Jose Mourinho'

Manchester United would rather offload Anthony Martial than Marcus Rashford at the end of the season, according to Arsenal legend Ian Wright.

Ian Wright has suggested that Anthony Martial should consider leaving Manchester United this summer as his form has "almost fallen off a cliff" under manager Jose Mourinho.

The French forward has found opportunities limited at Old Trafford this term, being restricted to just four starts since Alexis Sanchez arrived from Arsenal in January.

Martial has been tipped to move on once the transfer window reopens for business in two months' time, which Wright believes could be a good thing for both him and the club.

Amid reports that Marcus Rashford is also growing increasingly frustrated, Wright told Sky Sports News: "Martial has almost fallen off a cliff with Mourinho and if he had to let one of them go it would probably be Martial.

"They should be thinking about [leaving] with everything that's happening and the way United play. They should be a lot closer to Manchester City with the quality they have got but they have not been able to really express themselves in the way they want to."

Martial claimed three goals and two assists for United in the first four games of 2018, but has since played a direct part in one goal across his last nine outings.
