Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United play out thrilling draw

Manchester United come back from behind twice to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.

Manchester United came back from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw away at Tottenham Hotspur.

Aaron Lennon had the first effort on goal after 11 minutes, but his strike was comfortably saved for David de Gea.

Wayne Rooney found some space for an opening on 15 minutes, but Sandro blocked well to keep him out.

Spurs went 1-0 up on 18 minutes through Kyle Walker, who fired a free kick underneath the United wall, leaving De Gea with no chance.

The home side saw two penalty claims turned down on 21 minutes as they enjoyed a spell of dominance following their goal.

Roberto Soldado had a huge chance to double Spurs' lead on 29 minutes after a quick counter-attack, though he could only fire his shot over the bar.

United equalised on 31 minutes against the run of play when a Phil Jones cross rebounded off Walker into the path of Rooney, who poked home from close range to make it 1-1.

Sandro restored Spurs' lead on 54 minutes, putting a spectacular effort into the top right-hand corner from 25 yards out.

Two minutes later, United had a chance to equalise when they were awarded a penalty after Hugo Lloris tripped Danny Welbeck inside the area.

Rooney stepped up and drilled the penalty straight down the middle to make it 2-2.

Welbeck showed real pace on the left wing to burst past Michael Dawson, but the forward had no support and the attack broke down.

Andros Townsend came close to making it 3-2 on 79 minutes, but the winger just couldn't reach the cross to put it into the back of the net.
