Manchester United team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Liverpool

Sports Mole rounds up all of Manchester United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Tuesday's Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Manchester United will be looking to give their top-four hopes another boost when they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool in Tuesday's heavyweight Premier League battle.

The Red Devils had to rely on the brilliance of Cristiano Ronaldo to get them over the line against Norwich City at the weekend, with the five-time Ballon d'Or winner netting a hat-trick in a 3-2 success.

Ralf Rangnick's men took advantage of Arsenal's recent woes to leapfrog the Gunners into fifth in the Premier League table - three points behind Tottenham Hotspur after the Lilywhites also lost at the weekend.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Man United's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with Liverpool, who advanced to the FA Cup final on Saturday.

Fred

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: Unknown

Fred missed the win over Norwich after being taken off with a hip problem in the recent defeat to Everton, and the Brazilian midfielder will not be available for the meeting on the red side of Merseyside either.

Edinson Cavani

Status: Out
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: Unknown

Edinson Cavani's injury problems are just not letting up this term, and the experienced forward could be out until May with the calf problem that he picked up while on international duty with Uruguay last month.

Luke Shaw

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: Unknown

Luke Shaw recently underwent a minor procedure to have two bolts removed from the leg that he horrifically broke back in 2015, and the left-back is unlikely to return to action before the season is over.

Scott McTominay

Status: Out
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: Unknown

As well as Fred's absence, United's midfield is further depleted with Scott McTominay nursing a foot issue, and the Scotland international is not expected back in time for the Liverpool clash.

Raphael Varane

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knock
Possible return date: April 23 (vs. Arsenal)

Rangnick revealed after the Norwich win that Raphael Varane is in with a chance of returning from a knock to face the Reds, but the centre-back is now set to be spared for the imminent meeting with top-four rivals Arsenal.

Mason Greenwood

Mason Greenwood was recently arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, sexual assault and making threats to kill, and he has been suspended by the Red Devils until further notice.
