Chelsea want to bring Barcelona midfielder Gavi to Stamford Bridge next year, according to a report.

Chelsea are reportedly determined to bring Barcelona midfielder Gavi to Stamford Bridge.

The 17-year-old has made the breakthrough at Camp Nou this season, featuring on 19 occasions for the Catalan giants, while he became Spain's youngest ever player when he debuted for the national team in October.

Barcelona are working to sign the midfielder to a fresh long-term contract, but there has not yet been an announcement on a new deal.

Gavi's current agreement is believed to include a £42m release clause, and the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool have previously been credited with an interest in the youngster.

According to Super Deporte, Chelsea are also keen on Gavi, with the Blues 'already studying offers' that they could present to Barcelona, who have ongoing financial problems.

The report claims that the Catalan giants 'urgently' need funds following their Champions League exit, with a number of first-team players at the club said to be available for transfer.

Gavi has largely featured as a central midfielder at club level this season but has also played as a left-sided and a right-sided attacker in a front three.
