Preview: Patronato vs. Tigre - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Argentine Primera Division clash between Patronato and Tigre, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Patronato welcome Tigre to the Estadio Presbitero Bartolome Grella on Wednesday in round nine of the 2022 Argentine Primera Division season.

Off the back of victories in their respective last outings, the sides will be looking to pick up where they left off with another positive result in this one.

Match preview

Patronato secured their first away win of the campaign as they defeated Central Cordoba 3-1 at the Estadio Unico Madre de Ciudades on Friday.

Facundo Sava's men raced to a three-goal lead inside the opening hour thanks to a first-half strike from Sebastian Medina and a brace for Jonathan Herrera before Deian Veron pulled one back late on.

Consequently, El Patron have climbed up to 15th place in the league table and are now separated from the top half only by goal difference.

Their next task comes against an opposing outfit who have enjoyed the better of this fixture, winning two of the previous three meetings between the teams.

Having seen their five-game home unbeaten run come to an end in their last involvement on home turf, Wednesday's hosts will be keen to return to winning ways.

Tigre ended a run of six games without a victory thanks to a 2-1 triumph over Estudiantes at the Estadio Jose Dellagiovanna on Sunday night.

Diego Martinez's men opened the scoring in the 17th minute through Mateo Retegui before Facundo Colidio doubled the lead two minutes into the second period, rendering Pablo Piatti's strike inconsequential.

With nine points amassed from their eight matches so far, El Matador have now moved up to 18th place in the league table, two points off the top half.

Currently with the joint second-worst defensive record on the road, Wednesday's visitors will need to keep it tight at the back to stand any chance of coming out on top.

Team News

Mateo Retegui has found the back of the net in each of Tigre's most recent two matches, and he will be looking to come up trumps for his side once again.

The Argentine Brian Luciatti could make his return to action here having served a one-game suspension against Estudiantes last time out.

Fabio Vazquez is a guaranteed absentee for the home side, as the 28-year-old is yet to feature this term due to a long-term knee injury.

Following his brace last time out, Jonathan Herrera has now been involved in five of Patronato's 11 goals so far, making the forward one to keep an eye on.

Francisco Alvarez is a huge injury doubt for this one after coming off in the first half of the recent victory over Central Cordoba in Santiago del Estero.

Patronato possible starting lineup:
Altamirano; Kruspzky, Quintana, Mosevich, Lozano; Medina, Castro, Leys, Acevedo; Herrera, Rodriguez

Tigre possible starting lineup:
Roffo; Prieto, Luciatti, Cabrera, Blondel; Fernandez, Castro, Menossi; Colidio, Retegui, Protti

SM words green background

We say: Patronato 1-2 Tigre

The two teams are amongst the highest scorers so far, so we tip both of them to get on the scoresheet in this one. That said, we just about fancy Tigre to scrape a narrow victory come the sound of the final whistle.
