Poland appoint Jerzy Brzeczek as Adam Nawalka replacement

Jerzy Brzeczek will replace Adam Nawalka as Poland manager following the nation's disappointing group-stage exit at the World Cup.

Poland have named former national team captain Jerzy Brzeczek as their new manager.

The Wisla Plock boss replaces Adam Nawalka after the nation's disappointing World Cup campaign.

Poland finished bottom of Group H, losing to Senegal and Colombia before beating Japan in their final game.

Brzeczek made 42 appearances for Poland as a player and spent most of his professional career playing in the top flights in Poland and Austria.

The 47-year-old started his management career at Rakow Czestochowa 2010 before stints at Lechia Gdansk, GKS Katowice and Plock.

Brzeczek will be officially presented as the new national team coach on July 23, and his first fixture in charge will be a home game against the Republic of Ireland on September 11.
